Danger of Christian Comedy

Christian comedy has taken the nation by storm. Mega churches, big churches and little churches have embraced this movement as comedians take the platform with good intentions, however most are committing the spiritual crime of blasphemy.

Blasphemy is the act of taking sacred things and speaking foolishly, profanely or with lack of respect. What is funny AT ALL about ANY story or quote from the Holy scriptures that can change your life for eternity? What is funny about it?

Without fail these comics will claim that God gave them their gift to provoke laughter. What god are they talking about? The living God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob gave Moses the Third Commandment that clearly tells us NOT to take his name in vain? Exodus 20:7, You shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless that takes his name in vain.  Jesus taught his disciples that when they prayed, they were to 'hallow' God's name. Luke 11:2, When you pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be your name......, in other words, Jesus is reminding us from the commandment that God gave Moses hundreds of years earlier that we are to reverence God and his name. We are to set it apart, sanctify it, make it special, sacred! Have you?

I cannot tell you how many of these comedians I have heard on major Christian networks endorsed by some of the biggest names in Christendom, It is very disturbing to say the least. The word of God tells us that laughter is good like medicine, it brings freedom of the heart, Proverbs 17:22 It is wonderful to laugh. However, the problem that we are having in the Nation is what are we laughing at? It has now become widely accepted to make fun of the Holy Spiirt, the Word of God, church and the use of God and Jesus Name. Christian comedians what are you doing? It is mind boggling that revered bishop’s help to promote those that are engaging themselves in this new fad that has hit the Church of America like never before. The love of money is the root of evil. There is a lot of money behind the comedy industry. Some of these comics will justify their folly by saying this is their calling...okay, but who really called them? What god are they talking about?

Making fun of the Holy Spirit and the way 'church' people carry on is not appropriate. It is like Noah falling down drunk and his youngest son went to show his brothers his nakedness, Genesis 9. Listen to this very closely, Genesis 9:21, “And he drank of the wine, and was drunken; and he was uncovered within his tent. And Ham, the father of Canaan, saw the nakedness of his father, and told his two brethren without. And Shem and Japheth took a garment, and laid it upon both their shoulders, and went backward, and covered the nakedness of their father; and their faces were backward, and they saw not their father’s nakedness. Wow! Saints of God, away with the Spirit of Ham in the nation that uncovers God’s people through unholy jesting!  Away with it in the Name of Jesus Christ!!

Let us make no mistake, there are some things that are going on in the church that is down right silly, however, instead of making light of it, we need to do like Noah’s older sons, COVER IT! When you mock God's people, you are mocking God! God cursed Ham! Come on Saints of God, think!

There is plenty of material that a comedian can use other than the things of God. Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying, that it may minister grace unto the hearers. And grieve not the Holy Spirit of God, whereby you are sealed unto the day of redemption, Ephesians 4:30. To constantly say, “Jesus,” “Oh’ Lord,” "OMG" while standing in front of others to entertain them for money and laughter is corrupt - it is blashemy!   Make no mistake “The name of the Lord is a strong tower and the “righteous” run into it, and is safe, Proverbs 18:10. Notice this scripture says that the “righteous” run into it, they do not mock it or use it for selfish ambition, fame or for laughter. Strong tower refers to God as a sustainer, a protector, a helper in the time of need. Only a fool would mock their Strong Tower!

Could this lack of reverance for our God be the reason so many are depressed and spiritually weak?  Are you one of them?  Are you laughing at God with these modern day jestures?
